Anne Brenon

A graduate of the École des Chartes and Curator of the Archives of France, and a graduate of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Religieuses, Anne Brenon is the internationally recognized specialist in Occitan Catharism and medieval heresies.

From 1982 to 1998, she directed the René-Nelli National Center for Cathar Studies in Carcassonne. She lectured in medieval history at the University of Montpellier. She is a member of the Society of Medieval Historians.

Author of numerous works on Catharism, she strives to reveal its true nature, beyond the clichés, inaccuracies, and errors that circulate among the general public. She has written novels that aim to provide a more accurate portrayal of the mentalities and events of the time.

She is an Officer of the Order of Academic Palms.
